Agreement

These Terms govern your use of the VerbSurf mobile apps, Chrome extension and website (together, "VerbSurf"), operated by Mark Ronquillo in the Philippines. By using VerbSurf you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use VerbSurf.

YouTube Terms of Service

VerbSurf isn't affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by YouTube or Google LLC. "YouTube" is a trademark of Google LLC.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old and meet YouTube's minimum age where you live. If you're under the age of majority where you live, you may use VerbSurf only with a parent's or guardian's permission.

Your license

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use VerbSurf for your own non-commercial language learning, subject to these Terms and the rules of the app store you installed it from.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• download, copy, record or redistribute YouTube videos or captions through VerbSurf;
• use VerbSurf to break YouTube's terms or policies, or any law;
• scrape, overload or reverse-engineer our translation service, or get around its rate limits;
• use VerbSurf to build a competing dataset or train machine-learning models;
• interfere with the security or normal operation of VerbSurf.

Third-party content

Videos, captions, thumbnails and channel information come from YouTube and belong to their creators and rights holders. We don't own, control or endorse that content and aren't responsible for it. Report problems with a video to YouTube directly.

Translations and learning content

Captions may be generated automatically by YouTube, and word lookups are produced with the help of AI. Translations, definitions and pronunciations can be incomplete or wrong. VerbSurf is a learning aid, and you shouldn't rely on it for legal, medical, safety-critical or professional translation.

Early access

VerbSurf is currently in early access and free to use. Features may change, break or be removed. If we ever introduce paid features, we'll tell you clearly before you're charged anything.

Intellectual property

The VerbSurf name, logo, apps, extension and website (apart from third-party content) belong to Mark Ronquillo. If you send us feedback, you allow us to use it to improve VerbSurf, and we owe you nothing for it.

Disclaimers

VerbSurf is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We don't guarantee that VerbSurf will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any particular video will have captions. VerbSurf depends on YouTube, which may change or limit its services at any time.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of VerbSurf. Our total liability for any claim is limited to USD 50. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit, and nothing here removes your statutory consumer rights.

Termination

You can stop using VerbSurf at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, or discontinue VerbSurf with reasonable notice where practical. The sections that by their nature should continue, such as disclaimers and limitation of liability, still apply after termination.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines. Disputes will be handled by the competent courts of the Philippines, unless the consumer-protection laws where you live give you the right to bring a claim there.

Changes

We may update these Terms. We'll change the effective date above and announce material changes on the website or in the app. If you keep using VerbSurf after changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms.
